About the Event

A project titled “Analysis of Chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) Genetic Resources through Next-Generation Sequencing: Genome-Wide Determination of Genetic Diversity and Local Adaptation” , in which Dr. Bircan Taşkıran , one of our faculty members, serves as a researcher, has been selected for funding under the TÜBİTAK 3501 Career Development Program . Within the scope of the project, chestnut gene conservation forests located in different ecological regions across Türkiye will be analyzed using genomic-based approaches supported by next-generation high-throughput sequencing (NGS) technology . The project aims to uncover local adaptation mechanisms by examining the relationship between genetic diversity and environmental variables at the genomic level. This study aims to contribute to the identification of individuals resistant to climate change and environmental stress factors , while also representing an important step toward the integration of advanced technologies , such as NGS an...

A project titled “Analysis of Chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) Genetic Resources through Next-Generation Sequencing: Genome-Wide Determination of Genetic Diversity and Local Adaptation”, in which Dr. Bircan Taşkıran, one of our faculty members, serves as a researcher, has been selected for funding under the TÜBİTAK 3501 Career Development Program.

Within the scope of the project, chestnut gene conservation forests located in different ecological regions across Türkiye will be analyzed using genomic-based approaches supported by next-generation high-throughput sequencing (NGS) technology. The project aims to uncover local adaptation mechanisms by examining the relationship between genetic diversity and environmental variables at the genomic level.

This study aims to contribute to the identification of individuals resistant to climate change and environmental stress factors, while also representing an important step toward the integration of advanced technologies, such as NGS and landscape genomics, into forest genetics applications.

The project outcomes are expected to make significant contributions to understanding the adaptive potential of the species, conserving genetic resources, and promoting the sustainable management of forest genetic resources.
